A cardiovascular specialist with 21 years experience in patient care with consulting roles for medical device companies including testing of novel cardiovascular devices. Dr. Shahriari is highly skilled in medical device design and knowledgeable about regulatory pathways. Prior to his full time role at Ascyrus Medical, Dr. Shahriari was a practicing cardiovascular specialist with a dedicated focus on aortic diseases. His clinical training includes cardiovascular and endovascular surgery. He is a frequent speaker at national and international symposia. He has over 30 issued and pending patents.
Philip Nowell- Senior VP Global Business Strategy, CEO Ascyrus Asia- Pacific Division
Mr. Nowell has over 20 years experience in the medical device business that includes the successful launch of two medical device startup businesses, mergers, business development, sales & marketing . From 2004 to late 2015, Mr. Nowell enjoyed success as an Executive at Cook Medical. Starting in 2004, he built the North American sales network for the Aortic business and in early 2008 he moved into the global leadership role in the AI SBU responsible for all aspects of the business across 80 countries. In 2014-15 he completed a strategy development project for Cook Medical’s total business in China.
Tomas Fernandez, VP of Operations.
Mr. Fernandez has more than 15 years of experience in the medical device industry with varied roles in R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance. He has worked for large medical device companies including Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and Johnson & Johnson as well as for emerging companies such as Bolton Medical and Orthosensor. Mr. Fernandez has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA from Florida International University.
Eric Leopold, VP of R&D.
With 20 years of engineering management, research and design expertise Mr. Leopold was most recently with Altura Medical where he led the research and development team in the design of a novel endovascular AAA graft system. Prior, he worked for several notable start-ups and Fortune 100 companies including ProMed, NovoStent, Micrus (acquired by J&J), W.L. Gore & Associates and Guidant. Mr. Leopold has decades of experience in R&D, operations and corporate management. He holds an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, an MS in Materials Engineering from San Jose University, and a BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa. Mr. Leopold also serves as the VP of Medical Murray Inc..
